In the heart of beautiful agricultural land, the inviting village of Garah lies 50 kms from Moree as you travel north along the Carnarvon Highway. Surrounded by cropping, sheep and cattle farms, the Garah district is home to people who mostly make their living from the land. The Club Hotel is a great place to catch up on all the latest local news and learn a little more about the area. One of the main events on Garah's calendar is the Talmoi Picnic Races which is usually held on the last weekend of June and is the final leg in the Golden Triangle Picnic Races. The race meeting, reputedly one of the oldest and longest running picnic races in Australia having first been held in 1911, is a fabulous day of racing, socialising and fashions in the field. You simply must go if you're in the area in June.
