Myalup, Western Australia

Myalup image

Home to an internationally recognised RAMSAR wetland, Myalup is perfect for eco-lovers. Myalup is a half hour drive from Harvey and 90 minutes' drive south of Perth. The small seaside town is nestled between the endless beaches of the Indian Ocean and the Yalgorup National Park, including Lake Preston and Lake Josephine. Take a stroll along the shorelines to bird watch and soak in nature. In winter, Lake Josephine puts on a stunning display of pink when the Red Samphire is in bloom. Fishermen will enjoy the convenient beach fishing where you can try popular fish such as Bream, Tailor and Yellow Fin Whiting. Visitors to Myalup Beach can gain a perfect vantage spot on the dunes to watch dolphins playing in the ocean just off the coast and witness the magnificent Western Australian sunset. Head east to discover the rural hinterland of Myalup and the hamlet of Uduc. This is prime agricultural country, first settled in the 1840s by William Crampton, and is home to some of the state's largest beef and vegetable growers, as well as great food and beverage venues such as Miami Bakehouse Myalup and Old Coast Road Brewery.
