About Us

At Live & Learn Group (LAL) we provide support for participants of all ages with disabilities to work towards achieving their goals and living life to their full potential. The team at LAL are passionate and dedicated to supporting a happy and fulfilling future for people with disabilities. Our values help us make a difference through a person-centred approach and our programs empower participant

Adult Day Program (ages 18+)

Our day program is an excellent place to enhance the life of people with disabilities and give them experiences they may not have had before.  HQ operates from Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 6.30pm and Saturdays when required. At HQ (our Day Program in Penrith), we have the right mix of community-based outings and activities.  Our activities focus on enhancing cognitive skills and foster independence through tailored activities that improve daily living abilities.  We can educate life skills like cooking, shopping, domestic duties, money management, personal hygiene.  Activities such as crafting, gardening including veggie growing plus lots more.  This is all centred around a space where they can have time out if they need it, a sensory space, a music room and more.  We even have a space where therapists and other stakeholders can organise private appointments.

Any participants who have an interest in an activity we don’t do, we are more than happy to look at implementing these into our program. All our valued family members have told us how much they have noticed subtle changes in the participants from behaviour to fine motor skills and communication.  It’s easy to see how much they look forward to coming in and the enjoyment they get from being in a safe and happy environment, making new friends and building relationships. If transport is required to and from HQ, we can organise that too. In addition to our regular day program activities and outings, we pride ourselves in providing additional activities that are out of the ordinary for our participants.  An example of this is throughout the year we provide passenger rides in the Live & Learn Group race car to our participants, their family and support staff.

After School Program

LAL provide after school care utilising our day program facility, community access or in-home based on the participants needs.  Support workers provide assistance to achieve individual goals for the participants and can assist with homework, craft activities and personal care.

Individual Supports

Assistance with self care, daily living skills and community access supports are provided 1:1 and can be offered in range of places including at home or out in the Community.  These services are available 7 days a week/24 hrs a day. Maybe you need some support to come to your home to help with morning or evening routines?  Maybe you want to learn to cook or, maybe you just need an extra helping hand every now and then.  It’s up to you. Our dedicated support workers will assist in meeting goals and will focus on supporting and helping individuals to learn the skills they want and maybe some new ones as well!

Here is an example of what we can do:

School Holiday Program

Year 12 transition to Day Program

Live & Learn provide support for Year 12 students to attend requested days during term 4 to transition from school to day program.  This discussion is had with relevant parties involved in the individuals needs to ensure a smooth transition.

Short Term Accommodation (STA)

Short term accommodation is available for destination stays in a variety of areas and services ranging from weekends away, camping, motor racing, dinners, days at the beach, checking out the latest movie or playing some sports.  No matter what the age or preference, we will endeavour to find the right fit.  In-home short-term supports are also available at your residence if required.

We work closely with behaviour supports, speech therapists and occupational therapists, who are able to attend HQ to work with the participants and teach our staff how to best support and work towards the goals of our participants.

To attend Live & Learn Group, participants with an NDIS Plan will need to be plan managed, self-managed or private.

If you would like to visit our Day Program to see the opportunities available, I am very happy to organise this for you.
