About Us
The Glen Innes Family & Youth Support Service Inc. is a not-for-profit community organisation that has been providing services to the Glen Innes Severn Community since 1989. We pride ourselves on providing free, confidential and professional services. We assist and support families and youth by working with them to enhance their skills and knowledge to increase their welfare and wellbeing.
The Glen Innes Family & Youth Support Service Inc. provides two programs: Aboriginal School Readiness: and the Family & Youth Support Program.
Aboriginal School Readiness Program works with Aboriginal families who have children aged 0-5 years to become school ready. The program aims to increase:
· Attendance at Pre-School or Pre-School Programs;
· Early literacy and numeracy;
· School Readiness;
· Family support for children to access early childhood and school;
· Parentings skills;
· Connections with specialist services;
· Connections and integration with the wider community.
This program provides assistance to get children to Pre-School and runs support/ activity groups for the parents and families.
Funded by the Australian Government National Indigenous Australians Agency- Indigenous Advancement Strategy.
Targeted Early Intervention (TEI) Family & Youth Program works with families with children under 11 years. The Youth Support project works with youth 11-25 years and/ or their families.
We provide:
· Case Management;
· Advocacy;
· Skills Development; (e.g. Budgeting, Anger Management , etc.)
· Information, advice and referral;
· Group work;
· Parenting Support.
Appointment can be held at either our office, your home or another location that you feel comfortable in. Funded by Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ).
