Outpatients

When you still need support, but you have not been admitted for treatment at the hospital, you are known as an outpatient. A specialist outpatient are services that are provided from a range of specialist medical and surgical services depending on the size of the hospital and community. You may need to visit your hospital doctor of visit a private specialist who comes to the hospital for scheduled sessions, like a doctor’s appointment. You will need an appointment and/or a referral. Your GP or specialist will normally refer you to the nearest public hospital where services you need are provided.
