About Us

For over 125 years, the Friendlies Toowoomba has been a well trusted community owned health partner to members and their families. 

Through our Pharmacy, Veteran Outreach Pathways, Mobility Shop and NDIS unit, we continue to support and enhance health, wellbeing and independence of our members and broader community from local, regional, and remote areas. 

We continue to improve our services as a response to changes through medical research, technology advances and patient needs, while keeping the old-fashioned customer service, importance of communication and empathy with our customers. This allows us to provide greater support and care for members and community patients, through providing friendly expert advice.

NDIS and Home Care

  • Supply incontinence products and other relevant consumables - sizable inventory of incontinence products held in store - if your participants need products to maintain continence or toileting on a daily basis. We have incontinence products for all ages and sizes - 8kg (size 2) to 4XL (239cm waist)
  • Sample continence products available
  • Incontinence awareness, including swimwear, underwear, aids and catheter products. Disposable and washable options to suit need and preference
  • FREE continence and wound care Education and training for Support Workers
  • Various delivery options – Statewide (QLD & NSW)
  • Supply feeding equipment and relevant nutrition
  • Dysphagia supports: if participants have trouble eating, drinking or swallowing on a daily basis: cups, plates, utensils etc
  • Respiratory supports: if participants need support to help with breathing and maintain respiratory health where this is compromised: oxygen masks, cords etc
  • Sleep Apnoea support – Equipment Trials, sleep tests, equipment sales, servicing and accessories
  • Diabetes management supports: if participants need extra help to manage diabetes, for example, testing blood sugar levels because they are unable to do this on their own due to the functional impact of the disability.
  • Wound and pressure care supports: if participants have slow healing wounds, a condition that results in swollen arms or legs, or ongoing loss of feeling in the body or arms or legs, and they need regular skin, wound and pressure care: wound dressings, pressure care cushions etc.
  • Podiatry supports: if the participant needs assessment and development of a care plan (we have referral pathways) to help look after their feet, ankles and lower limbs: orthotic supports, braces etc.
  • Epilepsy supports: if participants need help to monitor and manage seizures when they occur.

 

Nursing

  • Continence assessments – very comprehensive report includes product quote of recommendations; toileting plans for schools on request; in-person (can travel to wherever is needed) and telehealth available
  • Catheter Management (catheter changes and products)
  • Wound Management including dressings etc

 

Nurse Practitioners

  • Appointment hours – Monday-Friday
  • Diagnosis and treatment of a variety of health-related conditions
  • Ordering and interpreting the most appropriate tests to assist in diagnosis and management
  • Prescribing appropriate and necessary medications
  • Construction and implementation of therapeutic regimes for patients, carers and families.
  • Initiating and receiving appropriate referrals from health professionals.
  • Specialist support for patients with complex needs
  • Excellent relationship with Consulting Doctors to provide continuity of care
  • Patient advocacy

We also have our Veteran Outreach Pathways (VOP) Service. This service is designed to provide comprehensive support to Veterans for their health and wellbeing., while also providing assistance in navigating DVA entitlements and services. As part of our Veteran Outreach Pathways, we’re extremely proud to have a Veteran on staff leading this project.  She is fantastic at offering clear advice on matters to do with your healthcare and how to navigate that with DVA.
